Hi Im moving to Wilmington in 30 days and these are the apartments Im considering ...can anyone tell me if these are all in nice safe areas and good apartments or not?

Barclay Place
Colonial Grande
The Avalon
Cypress Pond at Porters Neck
The keys

and the last is Reserve at mayfaire which I have heard several people say already is nice, i like the price of barclay place alot and Cypress Pond too.
Any Suggestions? And more important will I be safe in those neighborhoods??

I had clients who stayed at the Reserve for a little while who loved it. The amenities there are awesome and you can walk to the Mayfaire shops.

Here are my two cents...

The Reserve at Mayfaire is the nicest and newest construction-wise. Like WaltDowdy said, it is very convenient to the Mayfaire area shops. Plus it is not far from Wrightsville Beach. I think this area is very safe.

I lived at Colonial Grande when I first moved here in 2003 (it was called St. Andrews Place then). If you decide on Colonial Grande, ask for something in the newer section. I think they are better built than the others (more sound-proof). It was very quiet and safe when I lived there.

Barclay Place is nice, and was my #2 option in 2003. I'm sure I would've been very happy there.

I know a couple of people who have not been happy at The Keys, for whatever that's worth.

I don't know much about Avalon or Cypress Pond. I do know that traffic can be miserable coming into Wilmington from the Porter's Neck area from time to time. It's a mess out there. Then again, if you're coming from CA, this will probably be nothing in comparison. ;-)

Good luck!!!
