GMarcan....are you still in Rivermist? Do you enjoy living there? We just purchased a home there. Won't be moving in full time for 2 years but home to get down 1-2 weekends a month and some vacations.

I see you are from MA....we are originally from RI...moved to the Raleigh area 9 years ago. We'd love to have neighbors to watch Red Sox and Patriots games with!
Check out the Brunswick Newcomers Club if you are looking for an avenue to meet people.

Yes this does help . I'm looking around down there next Thursday. I've heard good things about River Mist . We'd love to be under 300 ourselves. How are the property taxes and insurance?

Property taxes in Brunswick are relatively low. The county rate is $0.485 and Southport's is $0.2956, so the combined rate is $0.7806. There is also an additional 4 cents that goes to Dosher Hospital, so the total is $0.8206 per $100. Thats $820.60 per $100,000 of valuation.

ljd1010 had indicated another thread that his/her quote for insurance in Rivermist was $1,500 to $2,000.

Yes, our insurance is $1500/annually...and that's with the extra wind/hail protection. No need for flood insurance there. Taxes are significantly less than we pay now.

We are closing on 8/30 and very excited to start coming down on weekends.

We really liked it when we visited. Smaller community, 300 homes. Pool, 2 tennis courts, great location. We met several neighbors and everyone was so friendly. We closed on our home this week!

Let me know what you think!
