Husband is being transferred to Greenville in one month. And I really want to know safe areas to live, good schools and hiking information. My family lives in VA and TN but we have spent years in Florida driving up about four times a year to hike at pilot mountain and stone mountain in North Carolina because my family is on the edge of the VA NC line not to far from there but Greenville NC is much further and I would like to no more about it. I want to live with in driving distance to Greenville but if it's anything like a city I would would like to know what areas are close but not within a city or neighborhood. Preferably near good hiking trails

There is the Tar River Greenway, but it is fairly flat. Not sure if any of these present a good hiking experience, but here's some local options: Greenville Trails & Trail Maps | Greenville, North Carolina | TrailLink.com
