Any suggestions for people who could work with me? I posted here before and after much searching, still no luck.

I'm a 20 year-old student and may be coming to the area for an internship in Morehead city. I'd be staying the whole summer so ideally I'd be renting monthly. I've been looking everywhere for a small, cheap studio-1 br apartment/condo but I come up with nothing. I don't care how small it is, as long as I've got a bed and a kitchen I'm good!

A major issue is my age and many places refuse to rent to people under 21/25. Another problem is that it's a summer internship so I'm coming during peak tourist season when rentals are $500+ a week. I need something more like $500-$750 a month

Anybody here know anyone renting out something small? Also looking in Morehead City and Beaufort since things seem to be cheaper there.

Can't your employer's HR department help you? I think you are asking the impossible to find a solo apartment in Atlantic Beach during the summer at that price.

I'd suggest placing an ad on Eastern NC Craigslist in the housing wanted category. Perhaps you can find another intern or 2 or 3 people wanting to share a house.

This is the best option I could find on VRBO: a two-bedroom place at $1500/month in Beaufort. Find a room-mate, and you would be within your $750 budget. Get one of your parents to co-sign if neccessary, or make a deal with a room-mate over 21. A third room-mate willing to share a room brings the cost down more. Good luck.

Maybe try Airbnb and contact some of them who rent out their rooms. Maybe if you explain your situation, they will give you a better deal? Worth a try.

I won't know if I'll have the position until next week, so I've started searching now just to see what I can find. But yes, the program will try to help me find housing but for the most part I think I'll be on my own.

The only reason I wanted to be in Atlantic beach is because I'd be on the beach a lot and didnt want to pay $10 for parking each day. If I stayed in Morehead would I be able to bike to the beach? I've never been to the area.

AirBNB is a good suggestion. I noticed one room in Havelock where a guy was asking $47/night or $500/month.

Of course you can bike. Atlantic Beach is about a mile over the bridge from the center of MC: http://bit.ly/19lsAEq

Does the bridge have a sidewalk or any type of pedestrian lane?
