Hi, we are moving to a rental on OIK while we decide about building. Need some opinions on internet providers. We will have Dish for our TV's.

We had CenturyLink DSL for a while, and were not happy with the speed. If ATMC is available, I would investigate it, as they have fiber optic service available in some parts of Brunswick County.

If you are going to be in the rental for a short time, you might also investigate tethering to your cell phone. Per here: http://www.computerworld.com/article...e-hotspot.html

I *think* Oak Island is served by Time Warner. If not, it is ATMC. I think AT&T Uverse is offered as well. You can get a pretty good deal from TWC for a year as a new customer.

TWC didn't show up at our address the first time (caswell beach) but was able to sign up for service.
They have a 14.99 plan, no commitment. Speed isn't blazing but 2mb/s down and 1mb/s up is fine and a good deal for the money.
