Hi All! So, we've relocated from Massachusetts to Cary, NC and really do like it a lot, but being so far away from the ocean (2+more hours) is not ideal for my family. Our son will be starting school in a couple of years so we're really looking for a family friendly town/neighborhood with top notch schools, but near the water/ocean. Does that exist?? I hope so!!! We'are just seeking advice from anyone who is familiar with coastal living or within a 30 minute or less drive to the water. We both work from home so its wonderful not having to commute to work anywhere. We really could live anywhere and chose NC because of the lifestyle. Any advice/feedback is greatly appreciated!! Thank you so much!!!

I'd suggest Newport and Hampstead, plus a few neighborhoods in Wilmington. Newport and Hampstead are both much smaller than Cary, so they will not offer anywhere near the variety and options as Cary and the Triangle. Wilmington is about the same size as Cary, but it is a *real* city. However, you should pay a visit and see if you like the coast.

Wilmington would be your best bet. Several good elementary schools including Parsley.

Wilmington has great schools for a bigger town and Hampstead has great schools for a smaller town. Both very close to beaches. Check out Topsail school district.

Just look at the great schools website or use the search function on this forum for good schools. The same answers are repeated over and over again. Last I looked Brunswick was pretty low on the ratings.

Since the OP has not checked back since June 4, I am not sure she is interested in an answer.
