Neuse River Shopping Center is a retail center located in the southwest quadrant at United States Highway 117 South and Old Mount Holly Highway in the city of Goldsboro in Wayne County, North Carolina.

Supermarket Winn-Dixie #912, 2441 United States 117 Highway South, Goldsboro, NC 27530-8497, was a freestanding store on the northern side of Neuse River Shopping Center until its closing in 2004. It was a Winn-Dixie Marketplace store I think replaced an older Winn-Dixie store directly across on the southern side. Winn-Dixie #912 was replaced by an AT&T call center.

AT&T closed the call center in October 2016 after damage sustained from Hurricane Matthew.

Hispanic grocer Compare Foods operates a Compare Supermarket Express store, 2455 United Highway Highway 117 South, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27530-8497.

They need to just tear that old shopping center down and build a Walmart there already. I think it could work.

Do you envision another Walmart Supercenter hypermarket or another Walmart Neighborhood Market supermarket in southern Goldsboro?

I think a Walmart neighborhood supermarket would do just find. It'll be open 24 hours and that's the only store open all night in that area except that huddle house/ gas station. It could get a lot of business from the near by busco beach crowd at night.

I agree. There are already 2 Supercenters in Goldsboro on US-70 and Spence Avenue, and even if someone doesn't want to deal with the bad traffic in Goldsboro, Mount Olive isn't far from the Mar-Mac area and is a straight shot down US-117/Future I-795.

Plus, since there's a Food Lion almost directly across US-117 from the Neuse River shopping center, a Neighborhood Market would give Food Lion competition.

Food Lion #2530, Five Points Plaza, 118 Five Points Road, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27530-0916, would struggle against a Walmart Neighborhood Market, a Harris Teeter, and/or a Publix.

Default Compare Supermarket Express, 2455 United Highway Highway 117 South, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27530-8497

Does anyone know if Compare Supermarket Express at Nuese River Shopping Center closed recently? It is not listed among Compare Foods' locations.

According to Google Maps, it's still open. Someone posted a picture on there that showed a banner across the front of the store that says "Grand Re-opening", so they may not have updated their website yet.

Compare Foods updated its website recently. The Neuse River Shopping Center store is no longer listed.

Google Maps is not up to date.

Then they're probably closed. I'm supposed to visit a friend of mine in Goldsboro next month if nothing comes up. If I do get to go down there, I'll drive by the store and see if it's open or not.
