Small beaches near Wilmington to live (Oak Island, Carolina Beach: condo, houses, transfer to)

There is a possibility that we may transfer to Wilmington within the next year. Looking to find an area where the houses are reasonably prices (around 300K) within golf cart range from the beach. Any suggestions?

Carolina Beach would be the best choice, but it may be hard to find a house in your price range. A condo is more doable. Oak Island fits your budget, although the commute would be 45 to 60 minutes.

Kure Beach may be a possibility as well. Lots of locals went down that way during the downturn because the houses were more affordable. A couple blocks from the beach, nice restaurant area next the pier, small park and utilize Dow Rd to get into town.

Thats a good point about Kure...I don't separate it and CB in my mind, but I guess for clarity's sake in these types of discussions they need to both be mentioned.
