Do any of you live at any of these communities full time? Not so sure my husband would be on board but I'm just interested. The Preserve and River's Edge might be hard with 2 dogs but if an elevator/stairs I think it would be fine. I've read good reviews and at 65 and 67 looking forward the town-homes/condos might be an idea. We found the house /neighborhood we love in Shallotte ,the house hasn't been built yet. Trying to do all the things our realtor wants us to do before it goes on MLS. We've decided that inspectors, septic folks are super busy or don't want much business and photographer can't take pics in the rain. We have been ready ,just waiting on others to come as scheduled.

The Preserve at Oak island was started before the recession, and then went bust. Several of the buildings sat there for years, half completed. I think a new owner has taken over, and demolished some of the old buildings, but I haven't seen any signs of activity beyond that. I'd proceed very cautiously.
