My husband and I are thinking about relocating to the Hampstead Area. We have a friend who lives there and loves it. We visited the area about 3 years ago, however did not have much time to look around. I love the beaches there, and thought that Hampstead would be far enough away not to worry about flooding, but close enough to be near the beaches. Can anyone give me their thoughts on the area, yay or nay? I would appreciate any information. Thanks so much. Linda

You're best bet would be to stay there with your friend for a week and swe how it is. If you're comfortable driving into wilmington every couple days for things you want you'll be fine. Hampstead will be much nicer in 10 yrs once the bypass is done and it gets built up more. Even northern wilmington is running out of room at this point. So it would be a smart investment from that perspective. Storm surge from hurricanes may be what you're considering as opposed to flooding. Lots of places away from the ocean flood due to poor drainage , lack of grading ect.
