We might be looking at a job opportunity later this year in Winterville and I'm curious about South Central High School. It looks like it's poorly rated, even according the NC Report Card site, but a lot of reviews on various websites talk about how great of a school it is. We have very young kids (our oldest is in K) so we have awhile before we would have kids in attendance there, but it's obviously something we want to consider as we look at our options. Does anyone have any direct insight into the school? Maybe some info as to why it's rated so poorly? Is it mostly test scores?
Some of the reason I think the test score is low is because it's such a big school (at least copmare to all the other HS in the county) that it has some many different students from many backgrounds. Now the school itself is not bad, but if you want something a little better than you could go to Conley which would put you around the Wintergreen area of Pitt County (southern part of the Greenville area). IIRC Conley is rated slightly better.
