Hello everyone,

My husband, 1-year-old, and I will be in the Wilmington area the weekend of May 4-6. Any recommendations for anything we should do while we're in town? We are already planning on going to the Fort Fisher aquarium, the Riverwalk farmer's market, Airlie Gardens, and taking a ferry ride. Of course, we'll also be spending some time on the beaches.

Also, my husband loves trying new pizza places. Please make give me some recommendations for the best pizza. It can be anywhere in the area.

Thank you!

Benny's Big Time Pizza in Wilmington is excellent. I have also heard Crispino's is very good. If you take the ferry from Ft. Fisher to Southport, come into Southport and walk around. Its a charming little town with a beautiful waterfront, the NC Maritime Museum (which is small) and some beautiful old houses. Great place to walk around. Dry Street Pub has great pizza too.

The Cameron Art Museum and the Battleship North Carolina are about the only 2 things I could add to your list, if those are of interest to you. Oh, and Britt's doughnuts in Carolina Beach, which you could stop at on your way to the aquarium.

Antonio's Pizza & Pasta on Market Street is a good one. The white pizza and Momma Mia is amazing!

We always make a point of stopping at The Cotton Exchange for late afternoon shopping, then spend a few hours at the Riverwalk, concluding with dinner at Elijah's.

BC1960 - Thank you for the recommendations! My husband and I have visited the area a few times in the past, but it's always just been short day trips, so we weren't able to do much while we were there. We've been to Southport and, you're right, it is very charming. I think we'll probably drive into Southport and spend some time there, then take the ferry over to Ft. Fisher since we're staying in Carolina Beach.

Yes! Britt's doughnuts. We've heard of them but haven't tried them yet, so they're definitely on the list.

NCmaven - Thank you! I'll be sure to pass those on to my husband.

ERH - Thank you for the recommendations! We're planning on spending quite some time in the riverfront area so recommendations for that area are much appreciated!
