It sounds like the Southport/Oak Island area would suit you if you could find work there.
Has the small town friendly feel I was looking for .

Housing prices are reasonable and to me being a few minutes from beautiful beaches is worth a slightly smaller
house.

Southport is a tourist town, not the greatest for working people. It’s a retail desert for everyday practical items. Have to drive 45 min. to Wilmington for most stores, services and doctors. One thing I didn’t realize I’d miss so much is a truly good newspaper and really good local tv news. But I’m from Chicago and was probably spoiled with large city amenities.

Default morehead city

ive been reading here for a few weeks, trying to find a spot to visit in person and plan for a move a few years out. What are the negatives to morehead city, beaufort, etc? Seems not too cold in winter and somewhat scenic. we love the beach and strolling a cool downtown.Would buy a smaller 1500sqft or so house all on one level, or a condo.thanks all you nc'ers
