Hello,
I am moving to Wilmington and looking for a fitness center similar to what I have now in DC.

Hoping to find a large fitness center that has an indoor pool hopefully, plus lockers (if they can be rented so I can keep my stuff there rather than being "day lockers" that would be awesome). Classes, etc. Super important that it be sparkly clean and would rather not use a rec center/YMCA.

I have done a lot of online searches but keep finding really small looking gyms.

I'll be living at Carolina Beach and working in Wilmington so something on either end or in between there would be great.

Appreciate any suggestions!

O2 Fitness is the nicest. The one in the Mayfaire area is the largest. No indoor pool however. I don't think any gyms in Wilmington have any indoor pools. The Wilmington Athletic Club used to, but they closed it down.

The YMCA would have the only indoor pool in Wilmington. Wilmington is much smaller than DC, and I have found the fitness facilities are disappointing.

There is also an indoor pool at Coastal Fitness in Hampstead, but I found the floor looked unsanitary.

If you don't mind the commute, there is a new Dinah Gore athletic and fitness center run by Brunswick County in Bolivia.

Thanks! I wouldnt mind the commute at all to Bolivia, but it seems like that fitness center is part of a community college and is open to the public -- but restricted to residents of Brunswick county? So New Hanover county public isnt allowed to join? It does look like exactly what I am looking for....

The membership info I found does not say it is restricted to Brunswick County residents. Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center Membership - Brunswick Community College

There is also an aquatics only membership. You might contact them to make sure about the residency angle. Good luck.

Be sure to check out the hours of operation of the Gore facility. It closes most holidays and is not open on Sundays and doesn't have the extended hours of operation as most fitness centers or YMCA facilities.

I live at the BCC Aquatic Center and gym....great facility and I never heard of any restrictions when it comes to your location.

Worth the drive? That's your call.
