1. The old Flounders Seafood building on MLK Dr next to U.S. 70 has been demolished. There are construction crews now working there on site work for a new building. I have not been able to find out what is going in that location.
LongHorn just purchased the lot adjacent to Moore's BBQ in New Bern. It's the lot with the white building on it--it used to be a Mercedes dealership back in the day. Anyway, it will be nice to have more dining options in New Bern.
Wanted to update this. LongHorn is no longer being built on that specific lot. Riverside Mitsubishi is being built there.
I haven't heard anything about it recently. My husband attends many of the city planning meetings (due to his line of work) and knows many local builders, developers, etc. I will let you know if I hear anything.
Hopefully they will come to New Bern soon. Until then, the Morehead City location will continue earning our business. There's always a 40-60 minute wait on weekends. The wait on Valentine's Day evening was over two hours!
Interstate 42 gon ruin the town. Was in New Bern a bit before this corona virus mess started and overheard two locals, no not locals but NATIVES talking. One appeared to be some sort of councilman about to head over to a meeting, they spoke about how the town used to be, how it has changed and, and how too much of the change has been uncharacteristic changes influenced by out of town/out of staters. The councilman seemed like he wanted to push for more New Bern character kinda development. Greed is destroying our great state...

I mean change is inevitable, but its how you manage the change. Also there is the fact that the interstate won't be completed for another decade so there will be plenty of time to manage the effects of it.
