I know of a few doctors of Indian descent in Wilmington. The statistics show 1.6% Asian alone, and that include all Asian nationalites. So there are nowhere near as many Indians as in the Triangle. There are a couple of Asian grocery store, but not a specifically Indian one. There are three Indian restaurants nearMarket and Colleg streets.
You will be as safe as anyone else is. I do not think you will experience discrimination based on nationality.
