Catagory 1 days away, yet early evacuation?? What gives? We've been visiting for over 20 years, never got evacuated so early. Something new?

Most likely the combination of the virus plus the devastation cause by Hurricane Dorian last year is why Ocracoke is evacuating so early.

Some communities just want to make sure they don't have to open shelters given covid. I do think its an over reaction given the latest forecast, which is for a tropical storm and 2-3 inches of rain.

Covid isn't nonsense. Mandatory evacuations for a tropical storm are.
