From time to time I see references to the arts scene in Eastern NC. The following was on a New Bern news link, New Bern Live. I’m posting in case there is interest. I know no further details.

You are invited to the New Bern Artists Studio Tour on Saturday, November 6, 2021 when over 40 artists will open their studios to visitors from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is the public’s chance to see how arts and crafts are created in and around New Bern.

The tour is free, self-guided, and family-friendly. Brochures with maps can be picked up at the Bank of the Arts, Community Artists Gallery and Studios, Carolina Creations, the History Center, Studio M, and the River Bend Coffee Shop. These will direct you to all the locations on the tour.

More information about each artist plus pictures of their work is on the website – www.newbernartists.com so you can plan your day and not miss your favorites. The site also includes downloadable maps. During the tour, directional signs will help visitors find each studio.

The artists on this year’s tour work in diverse media, including sculpture, pottery, jewelry, textiles, photography, glass, and all kinds of painting. Many of the artists are well known locally and a number have been recognized across the state and nationally for their work.

Artists typically spend many hours, sometimes weeks or months making a single piece. When visiting an artist’s studio, you’ll get a unique view of works in progress and often will see new pieces that haven’t been shown before. Feel free to chat and ask questions, and most artists enjoy hearing your reactions to their work. You might want to know if a particular artist gives lessons or does commissions, here’s the opportunity to find out.

Enjoy the art but please bring a mask as many studios will require visitors to wear them inside.
