I've only been to the one in Pine Knoll Shores (used to live there for a few years in the late 90's). They have expanded since then and it's double the size and it's VERY nice. They have a huge tank there now with a big shark and many areas that are interactive for kids (if you have any). There are also miles of nature trails that give you great views of bouge sound and plenty of wildlife to look at.

I would highly recommend the one in Pine Knoll Shores.

I don't think one's better than the other. Each highlights the ecosystems of the area in which they're located.

The Ft. Fisher aquarium highlights life in the Cape Fear River, in the tributary where it flows in the ocean, and ocean life in the Wilmington area.

The Pine Knolls shores aquarium highlights marsh life and the ocean.

Haven't been to the other, so not sure of their "specialty."

LRoyal10900 is correct-Each highlights the ecosystem of their areas.
I've been to all three several times. If I had to give a preference to layout-I'd probably go with the one in the Cape Fear Region.
But all three are dynamite-You can only win by visiting any of them!!
The big diference are the beaches. I am very partial to my home town beaches of Carteret County/Crystal Coast!! There's also a small public beach access with parking (About 20 spaces) very close to the PKS Aquarium.
Remember that access, especially during the week. There is no other parking access near by-So you'll be in a very secluded spot if you get a parking spot.

I am very interested in buying a family membership and taking the kiddos often. Sounds like fun!
