Ahhh...the mayor of Carolina Beach(AKA-KIng of the Crackheads) should be proud of the fine job he is doing controlling DWI's. There is only one bridge in and out of this fine? town, how hard can it be if you are concerned???

I would avoid Carolina Beach-this is what is allowed and this is what it produces.

You blame the mayor for this?

Police found a camera in the vehicle that showed the three young adults apparently partying at a condo in Carolina Beach that night, Phillips said.

He is in charge, he is the mayor after all.Unless you take the ferry at Southport there is only one bridge in and out of Carolina Beach-seems like that would be an excellent spot for a suggested dwi checkpoint.

The Mayor doesn't control the police. Maybe your anger should be direct at the police chief.

Default My opinion

As an outside observant, reading the accident report and the posters original discussion, how can the blame be put anywhere but to the driver?

Everyone is responsible for their own actions, our elected officials are there to supervise us and maintain some sort of order.
The Wilmington,NC Police Dept has cracked down on under age drinking and loud parties recently. However Carolina Beach has not followed suit.

In local government, the mayor is just a figure head. The mayor runs the town council meetings and not much else. Your gripe should be with the police chief and/or town manager.
