Where is the train wreck emoticon?

The mayor of New Bern is quoted as saying there will only be between 3,000 and 4,000 riders.

Wow, that is down a bit from the 500,000 at Myrtle Beach. Let's see... Bikes, Beer, B***ches, and Beach. They still got three out of four, but a reduction of 99.2% in attendance. UHMMMMMM!!

The Craven County Fairgrounds are not much bigger than a several football fields.

This is the same mayor who presides over a council that decided to turn a major street in New Bern from four lanes to just two.

This will end poorly. Very Poorly.

I agree LLN. And I would think the beach communities from Atlantic Beach to Emerald Island would be equally concerned. You have to figure the crowds will drift towards the water for daytime activities.

For the life of me, I can't see why NB would be looking to court this size crowd?? The town just doesn't seem capable of hosting an event this size.

This story is starting to pick up steam:

I live near the Fairgrounds and will most definitely be out of town this weekend. On another note, our mayor compared it to the MS ride that happens here every year!!!!!! Yeah right.

Default New Bern ????

This will be VERY interesting I am thinking maybe the "older, toned downed" Bikers may wander thru New Bern, but the Big Crowd will cruise on into Myrtle Beach. Keep in mind, the MB Bike Rally is NOT in the city of MB. Therefore, they can't be ousted from there. I'm not a big fan of Harleys, they rattle my brain! If I lived in MB or New Bern, I would definitely plan to be outta town when the fun begins

Thumbs up Reply don't just read these post....

I think New Bern can handle the bikers with the area around them... Myrtle Beach by it self can't handle there crowds either. All U guys should post to the city of New Bern and this forum, with your opinions. The ride for me is about another 1 1/2 hours and thats ok. We have about 21 bikers going, age group 25 to 48. We need to get New Bern to post lodgeing and Bars, Vendors, activities.. We are the only ones that can create the interest. How do U think Myrtle Beach got started?

OK guys and gals, quit reading and start posting.......

Thanks for your time.

Just remember that we have tons upon tons of motel rooms here in Greenville and it's only a 45 minute trip to New Bern. To get from Greenville to New Bern you just shoot down 43 and hit 17. 17 takes you right to New Bern.

Default New Bern can handle this group!

I have lived in New Bern my entire life and this group can come here and have a lot of fun. Everyone should already have there rooms though. If not you can visit www.visitnewbernnc.com for information about lodging.

Only took an extra 20 minutes to get home from Havelock this afternoon. Did not have much to do, so I just sat there and enjoyed being delayed after a long week's work.
