HELP! My daughter is considering a summer internship in the Outer Banks and will need to provide her own housing/expenses for 2-3 months in the summer. Where can I find a cheap apartment for her in a safe neighborhood??? Have Googled and searched other sites - only other apartments I can find are ones for 1,000+ a month or in Elizabeth City - which is too far since she will be in Corolla...

I know this is awful to hear, but she might want to reconsider. If she's gonna be in Corolla, she will need to live there. The commute from anywhere to Corolla during the Summer is impossible. I mean impossible. Its much worse than any big city. What job could be so valuable that she would accept little or no pay for an internship in such an expensive area? Couldn't she intern closer to home?

There is also a deal with the county/employers where they actually bring students from overseas, yes outsourcing, to work any where and every where, Food Lion, YMCA, etc. Unfortunatly, these students pack into 2 bedroom condos 4 and 6 deep to afford the rent. Their employers and the county help them find these rentals. So, there aren't a lot of rentals left for other students.

I wish I had better news, but everyone on the Outerbanks who can afford to invest in rental property does. And they are less and less likely to reduce their rates any time soon. If you can find the tel number and she went to his college, Billy Roughton of 'BGR Development' is the most likely person to give her a break. He is a very very fair person.
