I just read online that Hamburger Joe's on Market St. closed Sunday. It was a nice little place to go to with pretty decent food. I am concerned about where Wilmington is headed. What is everyone's perception about this? Seems to me the area is stagnant.
We hated to drive by and see it closed, but think it was kind of in "no man's land"...for some reason, we just didn't think about making that our destination when we were looking for a place to eat, even though we liked the food.... IMHO,I don't think the area is any more stagnant than the rest of the country is stagnant.

There's way too many hamburger joints around here.
There are probably too many resturants in Wilmington, in general. They come and go, especially downtown. I wouldn't call it a sign of a stagnant economy, although our local economy is not going so great right now.
I also agree that we have more than our share of burger joints. There are several PT's Grilles, which is local and very popular, there is a Five Guys in Mayfaire, they just opened a cookout next to UNCW.
Naked King Fish right down the road from there is also set to close in the next few weeks. It's the same everywhere though. The economy is bad and businesses are closing. Restaurants especially. There's a lot of competition and fewer customers.
