I think so. I mean, if West Virginia can win the Big East and get a shot at the BCS title (the year they had a chance but lost to Pitt), why not Boise State against this season's schedule.
The biggest wins in school history are Oregon, Oregon State, and Oklahoma. USC dismantled all these teams in one season a few years back and people compained about their schedule.
Maybe I would give them a shot if they were already in the Mountain West and played VT, Oregon State, Utah, BYU, and TCU. They would still need to dominate their schedule and hope there were no more than one undefeated BCS conf champion.
The BSU program is a nice story and it's heading in the right direction, however, they have to climb a few more rungs up the ladder before they're worthy; keep racking up the wins, build recruiting, and strenghten your schedule. Success can disappear in a hurry for a young program if you don't continue to build, just ask Marshall, Louisville, and Fresno.

That was the weird year when everyone had two losses. I would still argue that WVU's schedule was tougher that year than Boise's this year. They didn't play any top ten teams but they did play four or five top 25 teams. Boise State plays two top 25 teams this year and then a dozen practice squads.
If Boise wins out then they deserve a BCS game for sure, but not the NC game.

That's a good point. If Boise State wins out, I say they might me worthy of it. It's not my intention to get off topic, but this is an example of why we need a playoff system of some sort. If Boise State wins out we'll never know for sure if they are worthy of the NC unless the teams get to decide it all on the field.
I do think this year is better than any previous year for them. Mainly due to starting out as high as they are. One thing I can't help but feel is that this coming year is going to be like 2007 with so many upsets Boise running the table would certainly play for the BCS title.
Frankly if it were Alabama that they would face, I don't know if they could beat em, but hey at least they got IN the game, and their stock would skyrocket.

West Virginia only beat three ranked teams that year; highest ranked team they beat was #20, and they lost to the highest ranked team they played in the regular season.
IF, and it is a monster huge IF, Boise State were to knock off Virginia Tech, that would be a much better win than anything WVU had that season.

If they are the only, or 1 of only 2 undefeated teams...then, absolutely!!
