Seems like ACC is trying to become the preeminent Basketball Conference while remaining a decent football conference. Academics is one factor why the B1G didn't want them. IF ACC waters down the academic prestige, I wonder if the Big becomes more attractive to Duke, UNC or Georgia Tech?

Trying? Few (if any) people would seriously argue against its status as the overall best basketball conference in the NCAA today. That doesn't mean they'll automatically produce multiple final four teams every year though.
And by tons upon tons of people. Most say this will be announced Monday, along with UVA to the B1G. There are just as many sources reporting this as there were sources reporting Maryland/Rutgers. If this really happens, VA Tech is gone to the SEC very soon after. Then the floodgates may indeed open. UConn and Cincy are probably waiting on their possible invitations as they are the next 2 in line for the ACC.
They need to take away the numbers i.e. Big 10, Big 12. There are too many changes to keep these. Give the Conferences a name without a number.
