Seems that some USC backers tried a little bit of pregame smack with Bama (they play at Jerry World in Texas) - they printed up T-Shirts with "Roll Tears, Roll" on them.

Bama replied with this walk-off home run T-Shirt:

you are right but the question, if you wanted to get a true idea on rivalries it almost can not be limited to only public schools. Many of the true rivalries are between a private and public school or 2 private.

2 of the biggest I can think of would be USC-UCLA and Army-Navy.

2 others: Ok-Texas and used to be: Colo-Nb

lived in NM for many years:no, there is no rivalry to speak of between NMS and UNM. Some of your other choices, like Ut an UTS yes and OU and OSU> big rivalry

just to add: I was raised in so. Ca and we lived in the bay area for many years: the Cal-Stanford rivalry isn't a strong as USC-UCLA.

I think when Harvey Updike poisoned Toomer's corner it kind of sealed the deal on Bama-Auburn.

I truly miss the ATM-Texas game on Thanksgiving and I kind of miss the Pitt Penn State game as well.

The ASU vs. UofA game in Arizona is an interesting one because they really don't have any other rivals besides each other.

And on this list, the Cal- UCLA game is kind of fascinating because I've never heard it considered a rivalry but maybe it is being that they are the two UC schools.

Iowa st plays Iowa like it's their bowl game.

Iowa can be ranked in the top 15 and Iowa st will only win 2 games all season and one of the wins is the Iowa game.
