Texas is easing it's way into Houston, or haven't you heard? UT bought 300+ prime acres for a new campus, and the Coogs got riled up about the turf invasion. Boren ain't calling any shots with that.
And it is the Chancellor of the UT system, Admiral McRaven, calling those shots. McRaven - you know, the guy who ran the operation that killed Osama Bin Laden. Not exactly a coattail rider.
He's absolutely a man who holds my respect as all those in service to our country do. Any man who devotes his life to putting down animals like terrorists, I'm all for.
I just find all the public politicking a little nauseating. I know it goes on, but I personally prefer the backroom deal manner of doing things behind closed doors. Social media has made many a grown man appear the buffoon in the present age.
Baylor's problem is all the continuing back room shenanigans going on to cover up the extent of the rape scandal and the coaches' involvement in the suppression of evidence. Stuff like that need to see the light of day.
But yeah, the wheeling & dealing over conference expansion is like sausage-making, not meant for viewing by the timid.
On the other hand, our politicians down here don't need any help from the media to amplify their buffoonery. Some of 'em make the two national contenders look like honest gentlemen.
Two women said they were pushed to accept alcohol conduct violations when they reported their assaults, or feared sexual conduct violations if they did.
One woman said her case began when she called police to report a physical assault on another woman at an off-campus party. Police demanded to know if she was underage and had been drinking, then arrested and reported her to the school office that investigates conduct code violations, she said. She told Baylor officials her drinking was a result of being raped a month earlier and detailed what happened in person and in a letter.
She received an alcohol code violation and told to do 25 hours community service, and when she tried to appeal, the woman said Baylor officials urged her to drop it. The school never pursued her rape claim.
Giving Baylor the death penalty is too light at this point. Get the U.S. Justice Department on the phone...now.
If true, that place is truly corrupt and an embarrassment to the State of Texas and the Big XII Conference. It sounds more like Middle Eastern medieval cultural treatment of women. Why would any parents allow their daughters to go their after this scandal keeps getting worse.

Unfortunately, this hasn't gotten the coverage that Penn State or Mizzou did.
And from what i've heard Baylor has been on probation for the last 13 or so years in men's and women's basketball, baseball, and football. So, if true, then that means they don't give a single f**k about NCAA rules.
Something tells me the feminists & justice seekers won't let this one go. It's not a case of one or two thuggish players hurting women, but rather the institution's systematic treatment of the victims and the widespread (from top to bottom) conspiracy by school employees to suppress exposure of their malfeasance.
Must be something in the Brazos water to affect so many folks in Waco, and College Station for that matter.
But it hasn't gotten quite the attention as the Penn State scandal yet, probably because young children weren't involved and the fact that Baylor just isn't a national "brand" or power in the college football scene in spite of their recent success.

Perhaps most damning is the part of the article which explains why Baylor legal counsel mandated no note taking during Pepper Hamilton's presentation with the regents. The note taking was withheld with the express purpose of keeping victims and their legal counsel access to depositions and other pertinent documents. In other words, to make filing a lawsuit and seeing it through to its logical conclusion a much more difficult proposition.
Eliminate the paper trail and save the money; and, by extension, stifle the justice that the victims deserve. Fighting Baptist U. truly is one of a kind, not in a good way.
The no paper trail methodology is enough for the NCAA to get involved and deal a death penalty.
