There isn't much ethics in the ncaa. I just wonder what prevents the sec commissioner from telling lsu to throw the game. 2 cfp teams would be a bigger payout than 1 and the losers bowl game. Or the pac 12 guy telling Oregon to roll over. There's a lot of money involved. There has to be a highly ranked somebody who has thought this. I'm guessing there's some bit of integrity left.

Because LSU is NOT guaranteed to make the playoffs if they lose.
The winner usually gets a better bowl game. That should be incentive enough.
Well.. LSU's only hope of a SOMEWHAT easier bowl game would be to win and hope they jump OSU or OSU loses. They win, they play Clemson. They lose, they play OSU (most likely)
Would you like the icepick shoved into your right eye or left?
Of course, should LSU win and OSU loses.. I think I'd rather play an OSU team coming off a loss.. But that can be dangerous as well. OSU were to lose and still be #4 with LSU #1.. That could be shoving the icepick into both eyes.
I'm happy as can be that Clemson isn't #1 and likely won't be.. The #1 team going in still has never won the championship.

You want an easier bowl game? Where's the fun in that?

well.. There's a point to saying that's NOT a good thing. because every #1 team has lost, which, in theory at least, means they've played the 'easier' game to start.
This sort of thinking has surrounded conference basketball tournaments as well. But there really seems to be no trends demonstrating teams that were assured berths in the tournament, losing or "laying down" deep into a conference tourney vs a school whose only chance is via the automatic bid.
Perhaps my analogy is a bit apples to oranges, but either way, I just don't see it, especially since any team in college football I think would be legitimately motivated to try for an undefeated season.
And more over, look at the spanking Utah took last night. Oregon didn't get the memo from the PAC-12 apparently.
Oregon probably would have been in the CFP had they not lost to AZ State.
