Applying to Missouri S&T, I know I missed the fall deadline and I don't intend to go in the fall anyhow, but rather in the winter. I'm wondering how long it typically takes to hear back a yes or no on a college application. If it helps, this is a branch of Missouri University, with about 6500 students.

Different schools, different response times. I would call the school up and ask the admissions person. It will be a three minute phone call.

There's no standard. It has nothing to do with the type of school or where it is or how big the school is. Every school has their own procedure and timetable. This particular school has an 'application status check' function on their website so you can just login and see for yourself.

Some schools have deadlines. Others have rolling admissions. And some have both. If they stick to the deadline, it might be up to a few weeks after Dec. 1. If it is rolling, I would give it at least three weeks after you applied.

What ever the case, it would be best if you asked the school's admission office.
