Without seeing the programs, I would go with sociology because it's a recognized discipline. That said, why aren't you going to a school with an education or early childhood development major? If I were you I'd at least minor in education and possibly switch to psychology because you'll learn about developmental psychology and usually cognition, sensation, and perception, which could be useful in going on to become a teacher.
Maybe it is different in Canada but in the US you would need a degree in Elementary Education to become a teacher. None of those degrees would qualify you to be a teacher here.
