Good thoughts to Tyler's family, and may justice prevail.

Looks like someone saw one too many teen movies and can't distinguish a prank from something horribly invasive.

Horribly invasive or not, jumping off a bridge isn't a very good way of getting even...

Yes, he did overreact, but it's still tragic. It's even more tragic that in 2010 sexuality is still such an issue.

True, the kids who perpetrated the crime will have their own set of problems, up to and including having this ugly stain on them forever--regardless of sentencing.

Perhaps suicide was a drastic reaction, but we'll never know why the kid jumped. Maybe to him, being outed was just as bad as being dead. That he killed himself is not a normal reaction to a problem. But we will never know if he was convinced that there was no other way to control the damage that would result from being outed on the internet. He probably didn't think about it for too long before jumping either, or at least long enough to reconsider. Doesn't make the crime against him any more or less, IMO.

Sad story. I grew up one town away from where the victim was from.

I read Ravi's cached Twitter feed. He also mentions being stoned out of his gourd, and a bunch of useless other crap. Imagine the number of newspapers, blogs, internet sites, twitter feeds, facebook posts, and all other means of communication into which he has just been involuntarily introduced. He's finished. The girl probably is also. It's not going to be possible for them to apologize for this stupid stunt. They are forever untrustworthy and will likely have just barred themselves from being employable in a lot of high paying fields.

Unfortunately, the kids who perpetrated this stupid stunt were probably just emulating attitudes and behaviors that they observed from their families and parents.

What an ugly thing to do to someone. They look like mean kids too--bet it's not the first time they've done something that cruel and hopefully it will make others think twice.
