Hey guys, I'm planning to go to California State University for my nutrition major and wishes to become a dietitian, so does it matter which college you go to for this degree? Will better colleges affect your chances of employment? Thanks!
You want to go to a college that has a good pipeline into your industry, meaning a well respected program. The overall reputation of the college doesn't mean much if they have a bad nutrition program. Contact some of the local companies that employ dietitians (I live in MN and we have General Mills here, for example) and find out where they went to school (see if you can spend a day there investigating what the job entails). If many of them graduated from CSU, then it is a good place to go.
Oh I see, I looked on the American Dietetic Association thing's website and sees most CSU colleges offer nutrition whereas only 2 UC schools have this course... I guess most dietitians in California come from CSU then. Thanks for your reply~
Find out where you do your internship hours, that will help you get a job.
