Other countries see "Paying for their citizens education" as an investment in their country.
Once those people have a high paying job, they also start paying a lot of money in taxes and the government gets their money back.

BTW,
I've noticed that anything I read an article about "My degree isn't worth the debt" there's no mention of their GPA.
There's a huge difference between the salary of an engineer tha graduated with 2.3 GPA and one with 3.8 GPA.

What's wrong with that... it punishes kids that have poor parents.

"Some politicians" constantly vote to take money away from education "to balance the budget" but never proposed to take money away from things that rich people need: Police, Firefighters, roads, highways, etc.
LAWL!!! You serious?

Landed a good job and get paid comparable to my co-workers who went to the big money football schools. I think people just have to evaluate their finances and see if they can really afford it. Like buying a Mercedes vs. a Honda. Is the prestige worth it to you? They both get you where you want to go.

1. Athletic programs boost schools profiles, so its an investment.

2. College football Coachs salary doesn't come from the schools.

3. As far as is a degree worth it, It depends on what can of degree you get. If you get a MBA from a top ten school, then its worth it.(Investment bankers can make up to seven figures). Law degree, Medical degree, engineering all worth. Now liberal arts degrees like, english lit, or theather or history is not worth(unless you want to be a teacher) if your going to be running up huge student loan debts.

I paid nothing for my degree. That is one credit I have to give the "communist" system I grew up in, all school were free. But unless you had good grades to get in not everyone made it and get a degree.

That's why it's important to do good in high school; it'll be easier to secure scholarships, grants and finances. If you mess around like I did; it'll be hell trying to get any type of decent aid. I'm coming out of pocket every year to pay for housing, books and part of my tuition. My cousin's school loans just recently caught up to her and she will be paying approx 700-900 dollars every month for the next year.

I'm really trying to avoid dealing with loans because I don't want to be paying them back for the rest of my life.

no you dont get it. even a college degree from a private university was still peanuts compared to what americans had to pay.
and GPA has little to do with financial success. you need good genes

You make a point. My GPA was nowhere near bad when I graduated from high school and still didn't get a lot of aid. My GPA now is good, but I still don't get enough to cover my costs for school. My balance is always over a thousand each year.

So are you some kind of god that is impervious to things such as fire, robbery, theft, etc. or have some sort of super powers that allow you to fly to work (do you work?)?

These aren't things that *rich people* need. They are things that all people need.

If you want to take money away from something, start with commercialism and material things. Why do we need 10 Starbucks within a 5 block radius? Or nail salons, or tanning salons. You get the picture. Start with things that aren't needed before you start taking away the important stuff.

I have a 3 year Associates degree from my local community college in Thunder Bay Ontario. Business Admin-Accounting. My parents paid for it(lucky) and it cost them roughly 3 grand a year including books.

I work for a bank as a financial advisor and make 60k a year starting. I graduated 2 years ago.
