I would definitely change my mind if I had the chance to do things over. Originally I was sucked into the mentality that I needed to go away for college to have any sort of positive experience. I can say that it was a huge disappointment, and led me to the state school I am currently at now. I've saved a ton of money this past year and will for this coming year by commuting. I'm a little upset that I could have saved 7k staying home and commuting to school my first year, but it's been a great lesson to me to follow my own instincts and not just follow the crowd all the time. My experience at my new college has been nothing but positive, very glad for transferring when I did.
I absolutely loved my college & wouldn't trade it for the world. It's a medium sized state school in the middle of no where. It has the best program for my major and I really couldn't picture myself anywhere else!
College wasn't even discussed with me when I graduated in the 70's. My mom pushed a local for-profit business school so I could be an Administrative Assistant or Legal Secretary. I never even took the SAT. Looking back I can't believe how low priority my education was but times were different. In the end I got a job and went to Community College off and on for years in between marriage and kids. I did get my AA finally but never went beyond that. If I had to do it over I would seek out the info myself, taken loans, and gone away somewhere. Probably one of the CSU's like San Diego, Chico or Somona, where I could live away from home and study business.
Besides having an awesome time and getting a great education - coming out debt-free was VERY helpful.
Of course, this is when a National Merit Scholarship would cover your tuition...
like many I do not regret the fact tha I went to college, I am happy I did. I only wish I majored in something else lol...
