Do you know what medium and period of art you want to deal in?

Wait a minute. Pick an art school to get a B.A. in Art History in. Go talk to their counselors. I believe you can have your "basics" transferred over there, and that just leaves you with mostly art classses to get the additional degree, along with some extra history, and I'm sure some other stuff, and this would perhaps be something you could get within two years. I think your approach for now is fine, but since you came here to find out what to do, I just had to say something.

Originally I had wanted to return to school to mainly study Rococo and Modern Western Art.

I know they are two completely different time periods and eras, but maybe I could have mostly studied Western Art and added a few Rococo based courses in there.

There really aren't a lot offered at universities in my area.

Thanks. I've been talking with both Counselors and Directors at both Rutgers for their Grad program and Montclair for their undergrad. And you're right. I would only have to do the art classes. Along with a few more writing courses. I will reach out to a few more schools.

Not to discourage you but I think you need to research art galleries, museums and antique stores very thoroughly before taking any next step at all. When you say you want to open an art gallery and then say of Rococo that sends up all sorts of red flags to me.

I don't really see why. I saw a lot of Parisian styled art at Galleries in New Orleans...which is where I would like my gallery to be based, if and when I do open one.

I don't know about Art History specifically, but a lot of the humanities and social sciences aren't so linear that you have to have a bachelor's in the exact subject before going for a master's.

I know a lot of people with business or accounting degrees in master's programs in history or public policy, for instance. As long as you have the basics of the subject, can write well, and show you can do research, it probably doesn't make sense to go back and get a bachelor's. You might want to talk to the professors at the particular program you are hoping to attend. Or take a class or two in art history to get some recommendations.

Do you have any business cards with links to them, I'd love to see one because I truly just don't see how a gallery could pull it off.

No. They have a mix of Parisian/Renaissance pieces. Located on Royal Street. I haven't been since I graduated in 2009.

I'm sure TOO much hasn't changed.

I am having the same problem.I did a bachelors degree in finance and whats more i am done with my CPAs.Its pretty hard to get into a masters degree in an art course without actually doing a first degree in the same.According to me we should do a second degree in the art we prefer(mine is interior design) and change our career paths from there. If you think about it we are sorted for life with a business degree.I mean if we ever have our own businesses(your art gallery)you will be your own accountant.Win win right.

Man.

Good for you guys.

Don't listen to all the naysayers and those who doubt you and say the degrees are a waste of time.

Go do what you want.
