My friend's husband has his Bachelor's in sociology. He works as a departmental manager in a la-di-da food store (like Whole Foods).

My degree is not in sociology, but in social science. I work as a civilian for a law enforcement agency. I work with two other people who have degrees in sociology and criminology.

My undergrad degree was sociology, and I immediately went to grad school for an M.S.W. that was 35 years ago without much career guidance at all. Not sure if I would do it again if I knew then what I know now. I should have had more life experience prior to the MSW and definitely could have used career guidance as an undergrad.

Yes, my BA was in Sociology and it has permitted me a considerable amount of lattitide with reference to employment. It is far from a useless degree and I am deeply interested in it. I still read many books about the subject and, at the risk of sounding like a nerd, it is something of a passion of mine.

I have worked in the legal and insurance fielsd as CEO of my own business, and in the Mental Health Field as a counselor. Sociology is also a good major for anyone interested in graduate or professional school in Social Work, Counseling, Law, Urban Planning, Human Resource Management, teaching, public relations, health and human services and so many other fields. There are also jobs available right out of college with a BA in Sociology.

Soc majors often need to take cognate courses in other social sciences such as psychology, history and economics. A number of fields in the public sector require a certain amount of classes in the social sciences in order to be considered. It's a flexible and useful major that has served me well.

My B.A. was in Sociology, but my M.A. is in TESOL. So I have taught ESL/EFL in recent times.

Sociology was formerly my major so I have a lot of sociology credits. I changed my major to psych and made sociology my minor since my school requires a minor and the credits were already there. I am currently taking a class, Sociology of Popular Music, along with Social Deviance . Interesting, to say the least!
