I feel that mine did, first of all, I didn't understand the double major thing. If my adviser had explained it better to me, I could have double majored in history and english which I think would have helped me out more. I just can't fathom how these two subjects are so related and yet, with an english degree, you CAN do anything and with a history one, everyone just says teach and that's it.

After I left college, they changed the history major description and the english one. They no longer say you can do X,Y,and Z. They just mention teacher certification and that's it.

I do like what the OP put, maybe this should be made into a sticky?

But the truth is that colleges do it. Why? It's a $ making business. Not only to the 'obscure the whole truth' to students but to parents too, many of whom didn't go to college. And they eat it up.

Like colleges who only post their 'carefully selected' alumni's positions who went on to do more. Or colleges who tell parents that their school has a 100% acceptance rate to medical school. Why? They want your $$$.

That is the truth. That you could get a 3.9 and 95+ MCAT percentile at Berkeley and still get rejected from every med school you apply to. Are you aware of how difficult it is to get a 3.9 majoring in MCB from UC Berkeley?

Most of those students probably didn't pick safeties well and will get in the next round, but still. Schools lie, or more accurately, mislead you. That wasn't really the point of this thread though. It was more of just a lighthearted kind of 'whatever'.
