College not offering courses I need to graduate this spring.

Depending on the classes, the university has the option of waiving those classes and substituting others in their place.

Just wanted to give a quick update. My adviser, who also is the department chair, met with me early and told me the department will give me an anyone else independent studies for classes that should have been offered this spring. Apparently changes to certain departments are coming and they are unsure if budget cuts will be affecting them in the future.

Thanks for all the advice. Thankfully the department is willing to work with me and this was sorted out quicker than I expected.

That's great!. It never would have happened when I was in school. Many needed that extra quarter(in those days) to graduate because of non offered courses.

I really lucked out. I'm fortunate that my department has always been generous to their students and flexible because I know they could have very likely said too bad and I would have been SOL at that point. My adviser said that if independent studies couldn't be arranged they would let me take other courses to substitute the ones not being offered.

Many Universities only offer upper-level courses during certain semesters due to staffing constraints. At the beginning of your undergrad or before your last 60 credit hours you should have met with an adviser and discussed your class plan. Many programs have a set schedule you should stick to so you do not end up in your situation. I hope you get it worked out but this is not uncommon.

Unless there is an issue say the professor goes on leave, it typically is anticipated. Due to this one professor going on leave, they actually doubled up on the international management class he taught(they brought in another prof the semester before) and brought in a new professor for the business capstone (he went onto marketing research afterwards but he was actually a good/great professor.)
