It’s not fast, but it is free. Live in New York State for a year before you apply, Excelsior Scholarsips pay full tuition to any city or state college you get into. Big catch also is that you have to finish your degree on time, and have to live in the state after graduation for the four years it took you to get a degree. But it’s a great deal if you can also afford housing and books. And depending on what you’re studying we have some very good urban schools, including Hunter, City, and Baruch Colleges (Manhattan), SUNY Buffalo, and Stony Brook (Long Island, but commutable to NYC).
