Has anyone done this? If so, I'd love to hear about your experience--which program and how long did it take? Thanks in advance!!

Pam

I haven't, but you need to make sure that it is 1) accredited and 2) you have practical experience as part of the program. It should also be affiliated with a major university.

Just in case anyone is looking into the Univeristy of South Carolina for an MSW program either online or not....DO NOT GO THERE...do any other school, move to another state if you have to. I wish I would have... it is unprofessional, unorganized, over priced and VERY disappointing...

I have never heard of an MSW program that can be done entirely online. All the ones I have found require at least some in-class or in-person time. Good luck with applying to TX State - from their website it does look like you can do most of it online.

Can you provide any more details on the problems you ran into, and did you finish the program? I've been admitted there, but have not yet accepted.

The University of New England has a fully online, accredited Master of Social Work program. The website is socialwork.une.edu. The Enrollment Advisors, Faculty and Staff are extremely helpful and walk you through the admissions process and the courses every step of the way. The program does include a Field Placement which can be done in your hometown.

The University of North Dakota has an online MSW. And it is in-state tuition, so it is a pretty good deal. Online & Distance Education

Keep in mind, you won't be able to do a legitimate MSW degree program entirely online, as the CSWE requires practicum placements/internships for both BSW and MSW program accreditation. If you come across a social work program that states they don't require an internship of some sort, then it's not a legit program and any "degree" you receive will be worthless.

Best of luck, and please exercise caution!
