Hello. I noticed that most of the college syllabuses that I have the homework is listed for the entire semester. Has anyone gotten motivated enough to do the homework in advanced? I have a week off coming up and I've thought about doing this. If I get really motived I could complete the rest of the semester's work in maybe 8-9 hours. I have the required knowledge (its an english class) to complete all the assignments for the rest of the semester. Would you recommend doing this? *Chances are slim she'll say "ok, you don't have to do xx assignment"*. Any downsides to this?
I am taking an online class and I am trying to stay 2 wks ahead of the syllabus, but no less than one week. My reason is that I have 4 kids and if something happens to pull me away from my studies (like everyone getting the flu or something), I have a cushion.
To me, since my course involves a lot of learning and retaining information, going too fast could end up in a result of me knowing the info to pass the test, but not retaining it long-term.
It depends on the subject whether this is going to apply to you.
I don't really think there's a downside if you want to do it. The biggest problem would not having the knowledge to do the assignments (you mentioned that it's English class, so this may not be an issue). It can't hurt to do "drafts" and then change them if the professor gives additional guidelines.
If you have time, sure. My weekly reading per class is often 8 hours so it's all I can to keep up with the reading as it comes. Also, my programming assignments and essays for my classes are only given with 2 weeks notice, so those can't really be done too far in advance.
If you have a good prof., he/she will be prepping you for written assignments with in-class instruction. In many classes I've taken, there have been oral directions to supplement the syllabus that are given out only a few days/weeks before to due date. You will probably get more out of the assignments and do a better job with them if you pace yourself.
I wish I could stay ahead!! I am never ahead, but I am also never behind. I usually just get it done right on time (although I wish I was that motivated to just get it over with!). I always say I am too busy and don't have time... however, if I really used my time wisely I would be doing homework right now instead of chatting in forums, lol!
