Any UB law students out there? How do you like it? How is the diversity? Community? I know the job market in Buffalo is terrible so how do you feel about your chances of getting a job after graduation? Do you feel you have a future in Buffalo? If not where do you plan on going?

I'm a 2L at UB and I like it for the most part. The school doesn't rank it's students, so there's no crazy competition going on between the students. Instead, everyone is REALLY helpful, so there's a great law school community.

I find that the legal community in Buffalo is a close-knit, welcoming community. Everyone knows each other, and everyone is willing to reach out and help you in anyway. The lawyers here are friendly and outgoing. The total opposite of most of the lawyers I knew in NYC. There are many opportunities to network, and when someone tells you to reach out to them, they mean it.

The profs: some are great and some are not so great.

Diversity: hmm, the class that just came in is a little bit more diverse than our class. In my class of 222, i think there were only 5 of us (blacks). I know admissions tries to recruit more minorities since there are so few in the school, but it doesn't show.

If i were going to stay in Buffalo, I'd say my chances of getting a job would be pretty good b/c i'm constantly meeting new people and maintaining relationships with them, which is key in getting a job anywhere.

But, as much as i love it here, i ABSOLUTELY HATE winter. And 6 mos of winter BLOWS...so i'm planning on taking the FL bar. I'd rather deal w/hurricanes than 6 mos of freezing cold, super windy and snowy weather. I've always wanted to live in FL and and NYC is no longer an option for me, besides it gets cold there too.

If you decide to choose UB, let me know. And if you have anymore questions, pm me.

SO's dad is an established attorney in Buffalo, and this seems to be very much the case.
