PIA, huh?

When I grew up in Denver, I always went to Arvada for that very reason!!

You could drive 38 miles to Canon City ( where I live). We have 2 Drivers License locations. You should be out in minutes!
Any smaller area would do.

Shoot, by the time you drove down here, got your license and, drove back to COS, the same people would still be sitting at the DMV whilst you could go eat, nap, whatever! PLUS, you would have a very scenic drive and understand why I picked Canon!! Lush and Green!!YEP!!

We use the one at Chapel Hills Mall, on the north side, just off N Academy Blvd and I-25.

Never been in there more than an hour, for anything, for the 3 visits we did, including new licenses and new plates and paying taxes on cars when we moved here. I'd go late in the afternoon, and NEVER on a Monday morning.

Just recently I used the one Mike mentioned in Chapel Hills Mall. It didn't take long at all. He also mentioned do not go on Mondays but also do not go on Fridays. Other locations are closed on Friday therefore this one is busier.

I've found that Wednesday/Thursday mornings are the best.

It depends on what you need to get done. The Chapel Hills Mall location is pretty good, but they don't do everything.

I recently had to get a motorcycle endorsement on my license. They don't do that at the Mall location. I didn't understand why they can issue a new license, but can't issue one with a little "M" on it for motorcycle.

The line proctor there told me I'd have to go the Austin Bluffs location. That's the only place I could go. Unfortunately, that's also where they do driving examinations. The line of people was literally out the door on the sidewalk.

I went in an asked if there was anyplace else to go. The person there said go to Pueblo. It's never busy and it's easy to find from I-25.

I drove to Pueblo from the Springs, got everything done and was back in town in an hour and half with drive time. Well worth the trip in my book.

For motorcycle endorsements, you have to go to Austin Bluffs, but better yet, go to Pueblo for little or no waiting.

We went to the one on Union to get our licenses when we moved here. Their computers went down and we were still out within an hour. Go when they first open, to have the shortest wait.

We went to the Chapel Hills location to do our car registration a few months after that. We went late afternoon. They looked packed, but we were in and out within 30 minutes. We didn't go first thing in the morning that time... it was like 3pm.

Sorry, not Union. Austin Bluffs. 4420 Austin Bluffs, 80918. Don't know where Pinecreek is, so I can't comment on how close it is to your location. We live in Briargate, and it wasn't a long drive. About 15 minutes, if memory serves, from Woodmen and Rangewood approx.

We registered our 03 Vibe at the Chapel Hills office for about $100, give or take $10. Our old registration was Florida, same with DH's license. No problems on either front.

As has been said TO DEATH on another thread... get your VIN verification done before you go the first time. It's quick, it's painless. It's stupid not to.

Thanks to the fine CDers here, I learned everything I could before we went (search the threads here) and our trips were painless, if memory serves. I have heard several people here in COS complain about the process, but I don't get it... do your research first people!

Great step coming to this forum. There are wonderful folks here who helped make our transition smoother!
