Not downtown/Old North End/Old Colorado City! I spent a dozen plus years in Cleveland. Ohio City/Tremont/Mid-Town.

I think that no matter where you live, in any city or town, you have to have an awareness of what's going on around you. Criminals are everywhere, but that doesn't mean we are all going to be victims of crime. I personally feel that the older and westside neighborhoods are safer (and nicer ... I'm with you there lalahartma), as is Manitou Springs. However, crime does happen on this side of town as well. There are neighborhoods that do seem safer than others, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go walking around them at midnight by myself.

Yea but those are just a couple neighborhoods, tho I do like the architecture in those neighborhoods i wish they would have built more of the city like that. I've shown people pics of the Southeast side of Colorado Springs and of the Northside(Briargate) and honestly you can't really tell the difference between these neighborhoods most of the time. But the bad areas in the Springs are nowhere near as bad as most other cities, so that shows how little crime there is in the good neighborhoods when people aren't even really all that frightened by the bad ones lol. The only problem with the bad areas of the Springs more than anything else are usually the schools, mostly District 2 and some of D-11. The graduation rates in the high schools in those districts are still much much higher than other cities of the same size. Honestly I'd recommend the OP take a trip here and see what they like the best.

Best area in Colorado Springs is definatly the North from vickers to research - I live in Black Forest - Peace and Quiet - I have been in the Springs since 1972 south area has definitely gotten worse since the good old days but there is good and bad in any part of the city
