We just move to Colorado Springs on the North West side. I was wondering if I should go with regular cable or satelite dish....any thoughts?

Also is there any dump/landfils I can go to and get rid of paint cans (still have some paint in them), wood products, and cleaning supplies?

Hey there. We use Direct TV and love it. You get a discount if you get it through the local phone company Qwest. Plus you can get DSL through them aswell, so it is a really good deal.

As for paint and cleainig products you have to watch in the paper when they advertise an area down south to take it to. I can't remember what time of year it is, but that is when everybody does it. You might be able to call Waste Management and ask them.

We have had direct tv for 5 years and I can think of less than a handful of times we had issues. That was with SEVERE weather. Hope that helps.

Does snow accumulate on the dish and cause problems?

Yes, it can which is why I do not install them on my roof. I'd rather pay the extra installation fee knowing I can go out in the winter and brush them off with a broom and I don't have to climb on a roof to do it.

Considering how weird the weather has been so far this summer, I expect the winter to be a real corker. .

I use DirecTV because I wanted NFL Sunday Ticket. Only way to get it.

If you want the best looking picture go with satellite. If you want to bundle services and save some money go with cable. I switched to cable 2 years ago to bundle, form dish network. It was hard to put into words just how bad the cable picture was compared to satellite. My wife, who is not even into audio/video noticed the cable picture was much worse. I switched back to Dish after 2 weeks. The cable picture just did not have the clarity, crispness or quality that Dish has. This was before HDTV, and it was digital cable, but was not even close to satellite clarity/quality.

I am thinking about getting dish network because the price of cable is outrageous out here. We are new to COS and we live in Briargate. I can't get over the amount of wind there is here. I was wondering if the wind affects the sattelite signal at all?

Yes, high wind, rain and snow can affect satellite reception....come to think of it........it can also affect cable at times, especially when the cable channel is received at the central office via satellite.

Snow accumulated on a dish can be brushed off with a broom pretty easily, assuming the dish is accessible Wind and rain can cause what's known as tiling. It's the pixelated effect you sometimes see.

In my opinion, cable is more reliable, but is more expensive.
