I'm currently looking for a program that would help my son prep for his PSAT/SAT/ACT exams. Does anyone know about the quality of the Sylvan Learning Center located on Vickers? Or any other places that offer such prep courses? I'd also consider a private prep tutor if it's the right person. I don't want to do any online programs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I can definitely vouch for the SAT/ACT prep offered at Sylvan - although my experience is with the one on S. Nevada.

How good were they? Did they have a small group or large? I suppose it all depends on which instructor you get that could make a huge difference, too...

Well, sometimes they do one-on-one, but the groups are never larger than 6 people, usually only 3 - at least at the one I know of. I couldn't tell you about instructors making a difference, but I think the program itself was very solid, as long as you were willing to put work into it. You learn a lot about what is on the test and appropriate testing strategies unique to each test. You do have homework. Lots of good practice, and you take diagnostics a few different times that shows your improvement. Sometimes people make huge gains, it just depends on where you are when you come in and what your needs are, but I've never heard of anyone not doing better.

Thank you very much. This is very helpful. I think I'll pay both facilities a visit.
