Hi everyone, my wife and I are trying to decide where to move in Colorado. I have been through Colorado Springs once, with my parents when I was a kid, and I don't remember much about it, other than it was beautiful.

My wife is a nurse and I am going to be attending school to become a teacher. Right now, I think that Colorado Springs is a good bet, but I'm not sure. Any and all input is welcome.

Things I would like to know more about are;

Cost of living/housing (both rent and buy)
pay rates for nurses and how many hospitals are in the area
how is the teaching profession there?

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Cost of Living here is about 88% of the national average, so it's more affordable than most larger cities.

Not sure about nursing pay, there are 4 major hospitals here. Search on words like Memorial or Penrose or St. Francis to find threads with links to all the hospitals.

Teaching jobs are tight everywhere but jobs can be had for a few, but by the time you finish teacher training it could be better.

I know that the schools here on Fort Carson are hiring, though I am not sure of much more about it than that...and for the record, this is the most wonderful place I have ever lived, bar none!

Thanks for the input Cointelpro. I have been to CS once before and it was beautiful. I can't wait to get up there and try out the fishing. There is a river near town, isn't there?

What I consider near, is within an hours drive. Some place where you can just go, enjoy a few hours of fishing, then head home, all in the same day.

I just do bank fishing, I don't have a boat...yet.

Also, my wife and I were wondering, in Oklahoma, we have QuikTrips. For those of you who have never heard of this, it is a convenience store that has everything you can possibly image. It's basically a small Walmart that sells fuel, and they are all over the place.

I noticed that the QT chain doesn't have any store in CO. Is there anything like this in the CS area?
