What ages? How far? How difficult for terrain? How far from the city?

An almost 3 and 5 year old, difficult but not dangerous, distance 1-2 hours drive is fine. We have been to Pike's Peak, Garden of the gods, Cave of The Winds and a few other spots, but love to get out and going. So anything like that would be great!

When I was a kid, I always had a good time at Mark Reyner stables.

Very pretty area as I recall.

Seven Bridges, the Helen Hunt Falls area has the "basic" hike, the one that climbs over the falls, but if you keep driving up past the main center, you can get to Seven Bridges. If you don't want to go up there, you can keep walking...

Williams Canyon is very pretty and easy, and I love the Crags trail, that's an easy trail for a 3-5 yr old.

Hey Summerz, thanks, I have been wanting to get the kids out to a stable of some sort, I have been horse back riding 1 time and it was pretty cool, I was trying to impress a girl at the time, so I rode a stallion, it was hilarious lol.

There are tons of hikes up North Cheyenne Canyon, or at Cheyenne Mountain State Park that would manageable for kids. Also, up Rampart Range Road there are lots of places, or all over Pike National Forest. Here are some of these: Colorado Springs Trails and Hiking

Posted this in another thread but it applies here too!

The "Contemplative Trail" along the far western edge of Red Rock Canyon/Park (parking lot south of Highway 24 about 1 mile west of 31st street) has to be one of the 3-5 most gorgeous "urban" hikes in the U.S. Less touristy than Garden of the Gods Park and you actually hike through and among the rock formations. Really amazing for how easy it is to access.
