Hello everyone!
I may have to relocate to Colorado Springs in the near future.

Once I'm moved and settled in, I would like to get involved in a community volunteer program in Colorado Springs or a surrounding town.

Would anyone have any information on the programs out there available?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Here's a link to the local library system

http://ppld.org/CommunityConnections/default.asp (broken link)

Over 700 agencies are listed.

Springs Rescue Mission is always looking for a variety of volunteers including serving meals, sorting clothes, interviewing clients (especially for volunteers who speak Spanish), answering phones, tutoring, mentoring, cleaning, and producing videos. Also, they're looking for people who are doctors, nurses, dentists, etc.

That is a great site!! I thought I would also mention volunteering firefighting- if you do it for so many years, you do recieve a retirement paycheck. Just FYI.
Here are a few local departments that accept volunteers (no experience required).
Security Fire
Fountain Fire
Hanover Fire
Falcon Fire
Black Forest Fire

If you would like even more information, please let me know and I can direct you to my husband who has volunteered for several years now (Training chief for Hanover and paid staff at USAFA) and has been involved with numerous others fire organizations.
Good Luck!

They let me post links now after the trial period, but I can't edit my old posts. Since the old post looks really bad to me, here is the correct link: Springs Rescue Mission I also recommend your neighborhood church. Some churches have great volunteer programs. I volunteer with our youth group (MS/HS age). The kids are fun and friendly.

Thank you ahz and froggin4colorado for the links!
I was told the PD there had a pretty good variety of volunteer opportunities too. I have been a volunteer here in California for a PD for 7 years and not sure I want to do it again there, but definitely want to get involved in something to help out.

Default looking for places to volunteer in and around Colorado Springs

Dear Colleague,

I'm looking for places to volunteer in and around Colorado Springs.

With a graduate degree in education and some years of work experience, now plan to volunteer few hours in any social or educational organizations.

Thanks.
