I am ill with respiratory issues and Houston has gotten to the point in pollution where I must leave it or die from it. My hubby works for HP and we are wondering what areas of housing we should look into when we get there. Are there any apts close to HP so he could come home at lunch ? We will probably want to live in an apartment for at least 6 months to get a feel of the area and the different weather areas and conditions until we decide to buy anything. Also are there any Senior Living Communities near there ? We have them here in Texas and have always said we would live in one when he retires. we want to make sure we are in a decent neighborhood... not necessarily a wealthy area as we will have a fixed income soon and have to cut our style of living way back, but a safe , pretty area to live in. thanks Bobbie

Bobbie: Welcome to city-data.

HP has 3 or more places here. I think one of them is over in the RockRimmon and Garden of the Gods Road areas on the west side.

I've seen some nice apartments in that area, and also along Centennial Blvd near Ute Valley Park. That's the foothills, where you'll be up close and personal to them, but so close that you usually don't see Pikes Peak.

There are some senior living places around town, but I've not researched them. I am retired, 59, but wanna live in the big new house a while before downsizing in another 10 years or so. Best I can suggest are google searches.

I'm sure there are others on here with more specifics who will add more later.

s/Mike

Talking Hp

As a fellow HP employee welcome to Colorado Springs!

I would recommend looking in the following neighborhoods. Zip codes 80919, 80918, & 80920.

Rockrimmon
Mountain Shadows
Pinon Valley
Oak Hills
Oak Valley Ranch
Peregrine
Pulpit Rock
Norwood
Briargate

As previously mentioned North/South travel in this town is currently better than East/West. Although we do have Woodmen Road as a major East/West thorough fare very close to HP.

However I do notice in my North/South commute every day that in the morning while I am going North, traffic is usually worse going from North to South (Denver to CS) from N of the Springs until at least the Garden of the Gods exit. In the evening I am going South while North bound traffic can be horridous especially from Fontanero to at least the North Academy exit. So you may want to try to stay against the major flows of traffic, like I currently am.

I hope this helps!

Kelly
